The deal extends Yggdrasil’s South African operator network to more than 30 partners, with the integration again routed through local aggregator Intelligent Gaming.
South Africa’s regulated iGaming market has drawn sustained supplier interest in 2026, with content providers competing to secure distribution agreements ahead of projected market growth. Yggdrasil Gaming has partnered with Sunbet, the online betting and gaming platform owned by Sun International, to bring its games catalogue to the operator’s South African platform, announced 7 September 2026.
Sunbet players gain access to Yggdrasil and YGG Masters content
The agreement gives Sunbet players access to a selection of Yggdrasil titles including Valley of the Gods, MexoMax2 and 4 FOXX Crew WildEnergy MultiMax, alongside content from studios participating in the YGG Masters programme.
That third-party content includes Big Bucks Bandits Megaways by ReelPlay and 4K Ultra Gold by 4ThePlayer. The integration is facilitated by Intelligent Gaming, the South African platform aggregator that has handled every Yggdrasil operator integration in the market since the supplier’s debut there in 2021.
Giovanni Fodera, Regional Manager for South Africa and Italy at Yggdrasil, said:
‘Partnering with Sunbet is an important milestone. We’ve seen tremendous momentum in the market this year, and it’s exciting to see South Africa becoming an increasingly strategic region for Yggdrasil’s global expansion.’
Sixth South African operator deal for Yggdrasil in 2026
The Sunbet agreement is Yggdrasil’s sixth new operator integration in South Africa in 2026. Earlier in the year the supplier went live with SportyBet, Playco.za, Lucky Fish, Bet Set Win and World Sport Betting — all via Intelligent Gaming — bringing its total operator count in the country to more than 30.
South Africa’s iGaming sector recorded €75.47 billion in turnover during the 2024/25 financial year, according to figures from the National Gambling Board, and the market is projected to reach €3.9 billion in gross gaming revenue by 2030.
Sunbet is the online betting and gaming arm of Sun International, licensed by the Mpumalanga Economic Regulator and the North West Gambling Board. Its platform carries sports betting, casino games, live dealer content, and virtual sports, and online gaming has become the group’s fastest-growing division.
Tyler Gentle, Casino Product Specialist at Sunbet, said:
‘Yggdrasil has a knack for taking a familiar idea and giving it a very different spin. From oversized GigaBlox symbols to innovative multiplying mechanics and games packed with personality, their line up is designed to make every spin feel like something could happen. That’s exactly the kind of energy we want on Sunbet.’
