Sony Indefinitely Delays Another PS5 Peripheral Days Before Release

Sony has indefinitely delayed the PS5’s official Pulse Elevate desktop speakers, which were originally due to deploy days from now, on 12th November.

In a brief update on the PS Blog, the manufacturer said that it had “identified a production issue with the product and have made the decision to delay the launch”.

This delay feels eerily similar to the one that affected its FlexStrike arcade stick earlier in the year, which was originally due out on 6th August but ultimately indefinitely postponed.

At the time, the manufacturer said it had encountered “unexpected production delays”, but that was several months ago now and it hasn’t provided an update since.

Sony’s Edwin Foo said of the Pulse Elevate delay:

“The additional time will allow us to ensure the product will deliver the experience we intended for our players. We apologise for the delay and appreciate your patience and understanding. We look forward to bringing Pulse Elevate to players soon.”

The speakers – which are designed for both desktop and portable use – promise “lifelike, ultra-low latency” audio.

What’s particularly bizarre about this delay is that many outlets and influencers received review units earlier this week.

I think I’m allowed to say Push Square received a pair, and SpawnPoiint posted about them on Thursday:

I wonder what went wrong during production, and whether it’s going to have to scrap its entire inventory and start over from scratch on these.

Surely this close to its originally intended release, the $220 product must have made it into warehouses around the world already.
