SNK is really turning Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves into the Mugen project that’s official and probably balanced. With Tekken stopping by, Street Fighter already coming out swinging, and Fist of the North Star getting its’ share, the Tokyo Revengers boys are also coming to South Town. Two DLC characters instead of just one is a surprise in the run, pushing theRevenge Edition DLC to get to 7 fighters.
Mikey feels more akin to the rushdown with some invincibility. Mikey’s normals are quick to counter or even get in some confirms against a majority of the roster. His roundhouse does a hook kick. His dash is a full-on run, which is great. Mikey gets a projectile with at least 70% range on REV. Mikey even gets a certain Rugal move that doesn’t totally get off the air as much as TheKing of Fighters champ, but it’s got itself some damage. Mikey does get a hop move to chase opponents with four different moves. Even a neutral jump is baked into the move. Mikey is the quicker character between the two.
Draken is the heavy brawler between the two with mostly straightforward attacks and damage. Draken’s juggle potential is definitely there. His Clear the Way super can even wall bounce at a certain damage point. His dash is just quicker but struggles on range with his attacks. Draken doesn’t have a standard anti-air on normal, but he’s got himself a few options for specials. Draken doesn’t have himself a projectile like Mikey, but getting in close can result in either command throws. Alot of his moveset can leave him exposed.
AdvertisementThe Tokyo Revengers aren’t solving crimes in South Town, but the beatdown they’ll give might be worth something. Personally, I found myself get more into Mikey’s kit than Draken’s because of his versatility to hold down opposition. Draken has more push, but Mikey’s kit is suitable for any KOFers who think that the New Faces Team of ’97 has a decent character in Chris.
Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is currently available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 and PC. Laocorn and Reina will be coming in the next month and in December respectively to end the current DLC run.
